This collection includes an undated legal opinion written by Josiah Quincy, Jr. (1802-1882) and miscellaneous letters, circulars, and papers that relate to the Quincys' mayoral duties and Josiah Quincy's (1772-1864) office as president of Harvard. These papers were primarily generated by Josiah Quincy (1772-1864), but in several cases, his signature and that of his son are not distinguishable. In addition, there is an 1864 letter written by Mary Jane Miller (Mrs. Josiah) Quincy ( - ) to Mary Tyler Peabody (Mrs. Horace) Mann (1806-1887) regarding the death of her father-in-law.
